Straight from the workshop.

Every gate and fence here was designed, fabricated and installed by Reuben.

The owner

Meet Reuben. Owner, operator, ex-Military.

Ten years on the tools. Five of those specifically in gates, fencing and automation.

But before the trade skills, it was the army that shaped my standards: show up when you said you would, don’t cut corners, leave the site cleaner than you found it.

That’s the same approach I bring to every job. Site visits on time, as booked. Written quotes sent when promised. Installation timelines that hold.

And as a father of three young children, security is always front of mind — in every gate I build and every job I do.

Work with the person who builds it.

What homeowners say.

Every one of these is a real review on Google.

★★★★★

We couldn’t be happier with the finished result. The new gates have completely transformed the look of our home, making it look modern, clean, and far more secure.

Thanks to Reuben from Delta Gates for installing our new fence. It was exactly what we envisioned, with more privacy to our front yard.

Allan Phu

Highly recommend Reuben from Delta Gates. I wanted a custom-built solution rather than a prefabricated fence, and he absolutely delivered — for both my home in Mulgrave and my parents’ home in Springvale South.

Reuben and his team did a great job designing and installing our custom side gate. We are wrapped with the finished product. Everything went very well. Would highly recommend him to others.

Hardware that lasts.

Motor sized to gate weight, never the other way around. We spec the hardware to the build, not the build to the hardware.

Be the next 5-star job.

Common questions

Good questions to ask.

How much does a custom gate cost?

It really depends — every job is different. Cost is driven by your frontage size, gate style, materials, and the slopes and angles of your site, so we always quote based on a proper assessment rather than a flat rate.

Scope makes a big difference too. A single side gate or sliding gate only will cost less than a full package — think automated sliding gate, two pedestrian gates, and infill fencing.

Our tip: if you can, get it all done at once. It means we procure materials and schedule site time more efficiently, which keeps costs down and gets the whole job finished in one go rather than piecing it together over time.

What type of fencing and gates do you do?

We specialise in front feature fencing and gates — the elements that make a real statement and lift your property’s street appeal. This isn’t full-perimeter boundary fencing along the sides or back of your property; it’s purpose-built for the front of your home.

Our core offering includes:

  • Feature front fencing — designed to complement your property’s style
  • Automated sliding gates
  • Side pedestrian gates

If full boundary fencing is what you’re after, that’s outside our scope — but for a front entrance that’s both secure and looks the part, that’s exactly where we focus.

What style of fencing and gates do you do?

Our most popular styles are batten, capped picket (Hamptons style), blade style, and louvre style. Get in touch and we’ll send you through examples of each — or if you’ve already got inspiration in mind, we’re happy to work from that too.

For feature fence packages, we install the Milkcan Zurich Parcel Drop letterbox. For automated sliding gates, we use Merlin or Grifco motors, selected based on your gate’s weight.

Why are your quotes higher than the cheaper one I got?

That’s a really good question. There are two costs to consider: the cost you pay now, versus the cost you pay later if a cheaper job goes wrong and needs fixing.

We charge more because we’re not a volume business — we’re owner-operated, and we deliberately take on fewer jobs so each one gets done properly. That means I can invest real time into every customer, make sure everything’s right, and be available if you need me. I don’t rush installs, and I don’t outsource work to save a few dollars — that’s usually where problems start.

So when you pay a bit more with us, you’re paying for quality, reliability, and peace of mind.

What does the warranty cover?

There are two types of warranty on your job.

The steel workmanship — the fabrication and installation itself — is covered by Delta Gates for 5 years.

Parts and components (like Grifco or Merlin motors, or D&D keylocks) are covered separately by their manufacturers, typically for 2–3 years.

My block is on a slope. Can you still build a gate that works?

Yes. Sloped blocks are most of Mount Eliza, parts of Mount Waverley, and a lot of older Brighton blocks. Sliding gates need a level track or a stepped install. Swing gates need clearance calculated against the worst point. It’s solved at the design stage, not at install — that’s why I’m on site for the measure.

Do I need council approval?

Front fence height limits vary by council and street. Most South-East and Bayside councils allow 1.2–1.8m without a permit. If your block needs over 1.8m, sits on a corner allotment, or falls in a heritage overlay, I’ll flag it during the site visit and tell you what your council requires.

How long from quote to installed gate?

This is job dependent however usually 2–6 weeks. One to two weeks to design and order materials, two to three weeks in the workshop, two days on site for install. I’ll give you a date in writing when you accept the quote.
